Psychotherapy

My psychotherapy services include individual work with adults. When appropriate, we may invite partners or other important people to sessions to support a client’s individual process. My therapeutic style is heart-centered and individualized; together we will create the experience you need to foster deep healing. My approach to this work is grounded in scientific theory and guided by intuition, and I often incorporate practices such as meditation, yoga, guided imagery, energy work, and self-love/acceptance into the healing process. Even more importantly though, I trust completely in each person’s internal compass and innate healing. You know best what is right for you. My role is to help you get better in tune with that knowing. While exploring, honoring, and letting go of patterns that no longer serve, you will naturally reconnect with your true self and life will begin to unfold in the most beautiful ways. Once we awaken to this process and start paying attention, the gifts are abundant.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy

EMDR is an integrative method of psychotherapy that is proven to be an effective treatment of trauma and other emotional distress, as well as anxiety and depression. It is an eight-phased process and is often a more efficient way to process and clear issues that have historically taken years of talk therapy to resolve. Just as the body heals from physical pain, the brain knows how to heal from emotional pain. But when trauma occurs, the resulting emotional pain may get stuck or blocked from moving through the adaptive processing system of the brain; this manifests as symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and a host of other issues. EMDR therapy helps to remove the emotional block and allows the brain to complete the process that was stunted so that normal functioning can resume. Sand Tray Therapy

Sand tray therapy is a unique and powerful experiential modality that may be practiced with people of all ages. Sand tray therapy activates the psyche’s innate healing potential and may offer insight that may not otherwise be attained. It is a form of psychotherapy and is used in conjunction with talk therapy; it may be applied once or multiple times throughout the course of therapy, depending on your interest and needs. Sand tray therapy may be a vehicle for healing trauma, inner child exploration, creative expression, or simply seeing a new perspective on a problem or relationship. Using miniatures in the sand, you create a concrete representation of your internal symbolic world, express yourself through metaphor and play, and make meaningful changes that may then be applied to real life experiences. Not only is sand tray work profoundly healing, but it is also FUN!

Energy Healing

Energy healing may be a great addition to you self-care routine! I am certified in Healing Touch and am also trained in Reiki, Brennan Healing Science, and Soul Partnered Healing. I am honored to share my unique and heartfelt blend of healing modalities to offer you a relaxing and nurturing healing experience. I work with your energy field by clearing energy blockages and balancing the chakra system, which activates your innate healing ability to promote physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. In addition to creating a deep sense of peace and relaxation, energy work fosters a deeper connection to self, spirituality, and the Living Field of Love. I hear so many accounts from clients on how it helps them shift out of old patterns and live life more fully and with intention. Energy work may also be combined with Ayurvedic Gem Therapy for a powerful healing experience.

Restorative Yoga

In this day and age we rarely make time for stillness and deep relaxation. And most of us experience stress, whether acute or chronic, yet we may not realize the extent of its effects on our quality of life and the body’s ability to heal. Restorative yoga is the perfect remedy. Experience the healing effects of rest when the body is completely supported by props and the earth beneath you. In restorative yoga sessions you will rest in poses for 10 minutes or more in order to activate the parasympathetic nervous system so you may reap the benefits of rest, which differ from sleep. Restorative yoga can be used in conjunction with talk therapy sessions or as a stand-alone treatment. Restorative yoga may also be complemented with energy work for enhanced healing.

Combining Therapy and Energy Healing

This is when things really get good. In conjunction, therapy and energy work can help to create life-changing effects. There are many ways to clear and balance energy, and this is just one way to get there. Obviously I believe in the efficacy of talk therapy, but I have seen repeatedly how complementing this work with energy therapy can help people heal on a much deeper level. Supplementing talk therapy with energy work allows for a deep clearing of energetic patterns that often work to keep cognitive beliefs and patterns active. In a way, we can bypass the brain to heal on a deeper level, which allows for lasting change to happen.

People remark at how the combination of these therapies has helped them reclaim themselves, be less affected by the unavoidable stresses of life, and even forget what it feels like to experience the effects of anxiety and depression. I am continually amazed at the profound benefits of the work, both personally and in my professional practice. I am deeply grateful to be able to practice something I believe in wholeheartedly.
